Xtruppaw (3)
You have probably come to expect me to rave about Xtruppaw. I'm sure those who were present at last Monday's Festahwid would not blame me for this. It was such a great performance that I am compelled to dedicate a post to it.
The place was full of expectations. Xtruppaw have only been on the scene for a couple of weeks but the anticipation of this 5 piece act was reaching uncontrollable proportions. And then the moment arrived. The Xtruppaw people took to the stage and the place started to fill up. A couple of strums later and the place was packed.
The crowd was enjoying their set and then it happened. After a couple of songs, including one 'ghana' type chilled out song (in which Dino got a deserving round of applause half way through the song) the first chords of their now hit song 'Malta' blasted out. Unexpectedly a spontaneous wave of energy swept over the mosh pit and the crowd, like a switch, went beserk. Beer, people and accessories flew in all directions, engaged in what looked like a peaceful world war. This was nothing short of amazing. The detonating fuse for this sudden burst of immense positive energy was nothing but the grooves and tunes coming off the stage.
The applause after each song was solid and sometimes deafening. I never witnessed anything like this. The show was truly an entertaining experience. It was cleverly planned and each song was placed in the right place. Just when you thought that you've witnessed the climax of the show the Xtruppawers dug their hands deep into their bag of tricks and came out with an ingenious twist that pushed their show to just keep getting better and better.
Well done guys. You deserved the reception you got on Monday. I, like all the people present on Monday, am eagerly waiting for the next one.
On a side note, I'd like to congratulate Dripht for successfully tackling the hurdle thrown at them of having to play after such a mind blowing performance by Xtruppaw. It's not an easy task but they did it well. Well done to Dripht too.

and i missed it because i was too lazy lieing naked on my sofa
Your loss.
in all honesty, i was not all that impressed with xtruppaw, even though the crowd really raved about them...their frontman irritated me somewhat...and their rendition of green day's american idiot was neither an original choice or an interesting cover. but then again, the crowd did enjoy it so i guess they do have something good about them that simply wasn't communicated to me.
thus spake nurse pica
Nurse,
You have every right to not be impressed. :)
Re the Green Day cover, I kind of agree that it stuck out. I wouldn't have picked it out especially since the other covers were interesting (xemx, Jeeg). My bet is that they were trying to cater for the punk audience which they're a bit alien to.
